Gallery of Photos (2009 reunion) Enjoy this Gallery of our classmates that attended the reunion. Click on any photo to see a larger view. By the way, we posted the name of each classmate on the photo for you.... one of the most amusing events of the party was "looking at name badge, thinking for a few seconds while looking back and forth at the high school photo on the name badge and the persons face, and then big squeals and hellos as both parties figured out who each other was!" Sometimes this ended with a tenative "do I know you?" I am not exagerating, it was quite fun to watch and participate!
Caught on the camera here is Charles Nichols and Phyllis (Inman) Avila. Phyllis was busy selling 50-50 tickets to raise seed money for our next reunion. At the end of the evening, a drawing was held for the winning ticket. Kelly said the person selecting the ticket didn't have a conflict of interest unless Vicki (Davis) Wheeler won. You guessed it, Vicki's ticket was picked to win over $400.00!
After a little confusion, Vicki graciously donated her winnings back to the Class of 1969 Reunion Committee for our next party. Now that is a class act! This is our fearless leader and reunion committee chairman, Kelly Richlin. Kelly once again kept the announcements and activities going during the reunion party.
Kelly still lives in Salinas and thinks it is the most beautiful place in the world. He and his wife, Sue, have been married 36 years and have 2 sons (Scott - age 29 and Kyle - age 27). They also have a 1 year old grandson, Grady. Kelly & Sue would love to have a 2nd home someday in Kansas city for the falls and winters, and to be close to their son and his family. It was a little hard to get Kelly's attention at the party, but it is obvious he still has his wicked sense of humor! And he needed it with all us rowdy party goers.... Caught by a roving report is Marty (Patton) Volz and Harold Hale.
Marty (never call her Martha) lives in Santa Rosa and attended the reunion with her grand-daughter and another 15 year old friend. The kids didn't attend the reunion party, but did spend the day at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Marty finds time to visit with her grandkids in Houston, Alaska, and San Francisco. She teaches atnthe MBA program at University of San Francisco. Harold lives in Morrow, Georgia and drove all the way out for the reunion. He reported that he made 14 stops to visit friends and family along the way, and had similar plans for the return back. If you remember, he went to West Point right out of high school, and he made the military a career until he retired from it a few years ago. He currently does some consulting, and I think just enjoys life. Pictured here are Terry Jenkins and Rose Ann (Azzopardi) Dobbs.
Terry lives in Woodland, Washington and is married with kids/grandkids. Terry had a stroke earlier this year, but as you would expect, is working hard to make a comeback. Terry attended with his sister, Darlene (Class of 1970), and said that Terry's wife and Darlene's husband leave the reunion stuff to the two of them. Darlene lives in the Bay area, so the reunion gave them an excuse to visit. Rose Ann lives in Tyler, Texas and was making the rounds with her friend Crystal (Collicott) Harvison. Both of them were scaring this roving reporter with stories of Tornados and crazy weather. Earthquakes are nothing compared to that! There always seemed to be a shortage of guys willing to dance and so the girls would just start dancing together... Go 40 years forward and things haven't changed much. We had some great music to dance to at the reunion, and then came that special number and the girls took over. Just a few seconds of video and you can tell that the girls still know how to have fun! front row from the left includes Phyllis (Inman) Avila, Jani (Wiggs) Phillips, and Vicki (Davis) Wheeler. Behind them is Carter (Tate) Gray, and Darlene Jenkins. We have always been an ambitious class, and so it was not surprising that we were asked to all come to the stage for a group photo.... well, we were pretty orderly in High School, but the teachers were watching us like hawks! Add 40 years of adulthood, a few drinks and lots of dancing, and things are a little different. This short video is a preview of the photos that will be posted in the next few days. Notice all the people giving instructions (at the same time), and you can appreciate the comment overhead that it was "like herding cats".... Some things remain the same after 40 years, and some really change. What has remained the same is that the girls like to dance, and to group together on almost any common topic. What has changed is that we are all HOT, but in a totally new way! This short little video pretty much says it all. Included from left side is Carter (Tate) Gray, Judie (Loe) Geissler, Connie (Eslinger) Pedersen, and Jani (Wiggs) Phillips. |
